Off-piste and powder skiing in Lech and Zurs in the Arlberg region of Austria.
Some of the best terrain and snow conditions in Austria are found in the Arlberg region with the resorts of Lech and Zurs offering excellent off-piste and powder skiing conditions.
Well known to locals, possibly the best off-piste, lift-accessed ski route in the whole of Austria ends in Zurs. The starting point is the Valluga 2 station in the St Anton area of the Arlberg. The precipitous drops at the top are followed by long fields of snow that wind down toward Zurs and in the right conditions can offer many kilometres of powder snow and few tracks. Beyond the Valluga 2 – Zurs route, both Lech and Zurs capitalise on their excellent snow record with great off-piste routes, many of which are lift accessed. To attempt the Valluga 2 – Zurs ski route then a certified guide must accompany the skier(s). Check locally with Ski School Oberlech,
Ski School Lech, Ski School Zurs, Ski School Arlbergor the ski schools in St Anton, Ski School St Anton Arlberg and the Franz Klimmer ski school for availability of guides.
